Peter Farkas

Peter Farkas is the CEO and co-founder of FerretDB, an open-source MongoDB alternative launched in 2021. With over 15 years in open-source database leadership, he previously held senior roles at Percona and Cloudera, specializing in distributed teams and service monetization 1310. His career began at age 15 when he founded his first startup, later earning a Master’s in Management from the University of Buckingham. FerretDB originated from a 2021 trek to K2 Base Camp, where Farkas and co-founder Peter Zaitsev envisioned filling the gap left by MongoDB’s shift from open-source licensing. Based in Hungary and Spain, he advocates for document database open standards and scalable PostgreSQL-based solutions.
