When you’re on a platform team, it can seem like you’re juggling many conflicting priorities. Some teams ask you constantly to add new features or services into the platform, while others are determined to build their own solution. Some stakeholders support the platform’s success, where others constantly question the ROI. In this talk, Paula will explore how applying a product mindset to your internal platform can help these challenges. She will cover how to keep an “internal” focus on areas such as responding quickly to change and prioritising workload. She’ll look at managing “external” concerns such as seeking feedback from users, marketing the platform and improving developer experience Finally, she’ll suggest how these “ins” and “outs” align when treating your platform as a product.
Paula is Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer of Syntasso; her previous roles include Senior Director of Tanzu Global Education at VMware, Senior Director of Platform Services EMEA at Pivotal and Co-Founder & Chief Operating Officer of CloudCredo.
Working in the IT industry for over 20 years, Paula is passionate about community, diversity and inclusion and has a range of speaking experience including DevOpsDays, DevOps Enterprise Summit, Velocity Conference, QCon and the LeadDev conference.
Paula is part of the organising committee for Kubernetes Community Days UK and DevOps Days London, and also organises the London Platform User Group.
