Open Source in Africa

With the rapid growth coming from the continent of Africa around OSS, this talk aims to give the audience more insight into some of the ways the ecosystem is thriving, what type of discussion people are having, ways to support and collaborate, and what the advocates are doing.

Bio

A software engineer who believes in changing the world in his way. An open source advocate, primarily maintaining the Sugar Labs projects , the organization behind the Linux flavored interface called Sugar Desktop. I vibe with code these days because I am more community focus. I am the co-founder of Open Source Community Africa, a project that I care about because it allows me to reflect my love for open source while building large projects that help the budding open source community in Africa. I serve as one of the board members for Open Source Collective, a project that helps sustain open source projects through the open collective platform. A board of directors with Sugar Labs, inc the new organization behind the Sugar Desktop project, previously served as an oversight board with the organization, primarily focusing on growth(marketing) and partnerships.
