Bio

Dr Marno van der Maas completed a PhD at the University of Cambridge in 2022 on protecting trusted execution environments from side-channel attacks. During this time, Dr Van der Maas also worked on implementing and testing processors that enforce bounds and permissions on memory pointers using a technology named Capability Enhanced RISC Instructions (CHERI).

At lowRISC CIC, Dr Van der Maas works on open silicon, primarily on the OpenTitan and Sunburst projects. His previous experience on verification and security enables him to contribute to the vision of making open silicon a reality.
